A native of New York’s Hudson Valley, John earned a BA in Communications from Plattsburgh State University in New York and an MFA in Visual Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. He moved to Massachusetts in 1984 where he began his career in art and design. Three years later, he and his wife moved to Portland, Maine, where they currently live with their daughter.
John has received awards in both fine art and graphic design. His experience ranges from work as a scenic artist for a New York prop and display house to graphic design and illustration for international software and biotechnology corporations.
An avid plein air oil painter, John is a regular participant in auctions and events in the Portland area. He also works abstractly making large black and white ink drawings on paper.
John’s work is held in private collections across the country.
